Biography

Growing up in the Bay Area, Michelle Lee discovered a passion for sports at an early age. From running the iconic Bay to Breakers race to cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge into the Marin Headlands, she embraced the active lifestyle of her surroundings. During her college years at Berkeley, Michelle competed in national-level bicycle races, even earning a spot at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

However, her journey took an unexpected turn when she moved to Houston for medical school. Despite being far from the mountains, Michelle found herself drawn to rock climbing, a newfound passion that continues to inspire her to this day.

Returning to California for her residency in family medicine, she then spent seven years as an attending physician and hospitalist at a county hospital.

Michelle ventured back to Texas, this time Austin in 2003, and settled in to start a family. For the past 13 years, she brought her compassionate family medicine approach to the fast-paced environment of the emergency room, serving the small town of Lampasas, Texas.

When COVID hit in 2020, the shortcomings of the American medical system became even more evident, especially in a small, rural ER, where time and resources were scarce, and corporate interests intruded on the doctor-patient relationship.  ER visits were often just Band-aids on chronic conditions.

Hoping  to address patient needs more proactively, she left the emergency room to establish a lifestyle medicine practice. Now, she focuses on preventing the very conditions that frequently precipitate ER visits. Employing a balanced, evidence-based approach, she acknowledges the realities and pressures of modern Western living.

Her objective is to equip each patient with the tools and knowledge necessary for optimized physical and mental well-being and successful aging.
